Voice of a few or majority

The way things are going in this country, it appears that it is the voice of a few that rule this country. First, the appointment of the PM is chosen by 1 person though of course the UrmNo members are suppose to choose their president and the president becomes the PM. However given the spinelss members of UrmNo who are all Yes man, they just abide.  Even if they choose their president, again the seleciton of PM is made by the ”elite” members only and it does not speak for the majority.    The handing over of the premiership is akin to a father is handing down the business to the son.  But…running a country is not the same as running a business.   They claim it is for the sake of unity and harmony.

Now, the silver state…the action of four, have robbed the voice of the rest of the silver state nation.  I happen to tune in to TV3 just now and that woman minister who now in charge of tourism has the smirk to say that the voice of majority has to be respected.  What majority??  Does she know how to count or not.  4 = majority.  Aiyo…

So…I am not sure if our leaders really understand the meaning of democracy and the voice of the majority/people.

I thought I would not be able to be surprised anymore given the many issues that have been unfolding in the country especially since the GE12.  I also thought that the many games that the supremos play were dirty, cheap and low enough…but they were still able to stoop far lower.  Guess as long as they are not buried yet…there is still space to stoop lower.

While I never support defections as a way to gain power, the fact that the Supremos, welcome these four  figures speak volume of the integrity that the supremos have.  However, I feel that either way, Supremos have lost their integrity.  Even if they welcome these four figures officially to their nest, ppl will question the supremos integrity.  If the supremos wait till the two who are charged with graft charges to be cleared by law and then welcome them to their fold, ppl will still think negatively.  Why, because it is hard not to suspect that the supremos would have influenced the court ruling and in fact, it may have been their deal with the two shady fellows.  To clear their name in the court of law and in return the two fellows agree to turn into frogs.  Nothing supremos do at this juncture is deemed correct and this goes to show how little I think of them.  Further, without doubt I am convinced that the three men that the supremos are going to welcome to their fold have met the supremos requirement: corrupted, fickle and opportunist.  One of them sure enjoy being a frog…jumping here and there and changes his croak effortlessly.

The aspiring supremos is no better as they continuously lauded defection as a way to gain control of the gaumen.  When the first supremo frog hopped over, the aspiring supremos were cheering and make no hoo ha about having to call for byelection whatsoever….and now that the tables are turned against them, they are asking for by-election.

It is indeed sad to see all these supposed leaders of this country has so little backbone and integrity.  All are blinded with power and money.  Well some may say…that is what politics is all about.  Oh well maybe.

I find it hard to stomach having the rosy cheek going to be supremo leader to be my PM.  His record is full of stains and he has used his intelligence (if there was any in the first place) to show some sense of leadership or direction but instead choose to use his intelligence is scheming bags and bags of dirty tricks.

While the world is trying to embrace themselve and struggle to cope with the economic crisis,…we hear no concrete plans from the leadership.  All we hear is stimulus package must be implemented immediately.  How and to where…no clear signal.  Oh yes..not to mention less than half a year ago, these same guys are proudly exclaiming that we will not head into recession.

If only any of our leaders can have a 10% of the sense of direction that Obama has and hopes for the country,…then I dare think that there is still hope.  With the ways things are unfolding not just politically, but in terms of social and justice affairs,…the near future appears dark and gloomy.

Oh God save this country.

Hope…is there one?

Obama’s victory speech was brilliant.  It was so inspiring and filled with so much humility.  As I read those words that he said, I kind of imagine if one of our leaders could say things like this, it will at least give me a tinge of assurance that things ain’t that gloomy.  I was also very impressed with Mc. Cain speech after conceding defeat.

I think we will never hear or see such graciousness from our politicians.  It may be just words…but the fact that they could say it, takes courage and takes grace to do it.  No doubt we can be cheated by nice sweet words such as Pak Lah’s slogan back in 2004, “Bekerja dengan saya dan bukan untuk saya”.  How beautiful…but we were all cheated and betrayed.

I wish that we will be able to transcend beyond race and religion for the good of this country.  I am not sure if during my life time I will see this happening.  The fact that it happened in USA, gives me a little hope but then again, US is very different from Msia.

It is an irony that we can celebrate and congratulate the Americans for having a first Black president and yet, here we cannot accept our other different coloured or religion fellow Malaysians.

Some of the words that Obama says that struck me were, “For those who did not vote me, I still hear your voices”…how graceful.  Unlike here, “for those who did not vote me, I will punish you “.

While I rejoice for US for their courage to make a change, for their united stand…. I am sad to see the way things are going on in this country of mine.  I wonder when it will all stop and when will leaders start thinking about the nation rather than themselves.

Nevertheless, one thing I will take from Obama’s victory is that There is hope and perhaps that is something I should cling on…hoping and praying that We Can make a change.  The results in the GE12, certainly is our first step into that direction.

Is there hope?

Is there hope?  I am not sure if there is given the way things are going with this country.

Last night, I happened to turn on to the prime time news, i think it was TV3.  It was the former Pee Am.  He was asked about Debate.  He said: i) We are not ready for debate wor.  ii) We are not like Amadika.  iii) Debate is for people to show off their intelligence (and gave that smirk smile).  and iv) Here in our country, ppl vote according to racial party, so no need to have debate for UrMNoh election.

Now…isn’t it sad to hear our ex Pee Am talking that way.  Firstly, if we are voting according to racial party, then tell me what happen in GE 12?  Were we really voting along racial lines?  Hahlo…still has not learnt the lesson yet.  Secondly, to show off intelligence…hah…so his son not intelligent enough lar…nothing to show.  I know he meant the other SIL is trying to show off.  Thirdly, who is he to say we are not ready.  In fact, I think more of us are matured now except a certain lot.  Fourthly, we are definitely not like Amadika.  Ppl debate maturedly about issues, but here electoral candidates stoop to the lowest measure with all sorts of cook up schemes, money politics, personal attacks…everything but the core issues that affect the future direction of the country.

Then, after the smirk smile from the ex pee Am, the other fella who was coerced to apologize for using the kris came on air.  Like a parrot he also thinks that debate is not a good idea.  He claims that the institution has learnt from the GE12 and that was the main thing.  Debate is simply a waste of time, according to him.  Hmmm….really you all have learnt from the GE12?  I must be blind or deaf or dumb to not notice it at all.  The way those ppl in his esteemed institution act and say…tells a different story.

Then today, we have news about the hoo ha over the PeeKayNS director’s appointment.  Suddenly, PeeKayNS belongs to the “earth ppl”. It is a Development Institution for the state and not for the earthlings.  If the latter is the case then it will not be named PeeKayNS but PKBNS.   I think it is absurd that they openly admit the appointed candidate’s capabilities but yet says that she cannot take the position simply because her name has no extension of “bin”.  Silly.  Well this shows why we are not on par with those other countries who started off the same footing as ours.  We accept mediocrisy…acccepting the second or third best simply because of their ethnic background and not their capabilities.  Now tell me when will the earth ppl ever wake up or when will they ever be confident to compete globally.  So I guess, in short, the coming Pee Am can forget about liberalizing NEP for it will never happen.  There will never be a time when the “earth” ppl are confident to compete domestically and globally on their own.  Also to use the excuse that the director is not able to lead them for religious affair.  What a lame excuse.  If it needs be then appoint a religious affair leader.  What is so difficult?

Another disappointing event to see the nominations for the future Pee Am.   Looks like UrmNo is so out of touch with the issues affecting the country and also has not learnt their lesson from the GE12.  How can they nominate a person with so many baggage and questionable dealings?  What future does the future Pee Am holds?  In his years as a politician, I have not heard him say or do anything significant.  In fact, he seemed like a spineless guy who is so afraid of doing the wrong things that will jeopardize his climb to power.

Do we really not have a leader who has integrity?  Do we not have leaders who can lead with clear conscience?  Do we not have leaders who can think about the people rather than themselves?

I can only pray and hopefully miracle will happen here.

Where is your brain, minister?

I think we all know that a certain minister who seem to have lost his brain together with his hair. Each time he speaks up, he reveals that there is only vacumm between his ears. In fact, each time he speaks up, it only validates my guess more about the state of his mental intelligence.

Last week, I chuckled when I saw the headlines of him advising the public to stop being gullible and stop believing SMSes. Hmmm…isn’t he the one who a few months back brought the whole Klang Valley to a stand still with his outrageous roadblocks,…just because he believed some SMSes and so called intelligence report that there will be a rally in the Parlimen. Now…a few months later…he is advising the public the same thing. Hmmm…maybe he learnt from his lesson.

Today his excuse for the detention of the Sin Chew Journalist was that they needed to protect her. My goodness…he really thinks that we are brainless rakyat. Again his excuse is that intelligence report says that this Ms. Tan’s life is in threat. Gosh… do you need to arrest a person under ISA (the evil draconian law) just to protect her. Isn’t police protection not possible afterall…i thought police protection was given to that guy who claimed sohdomee??

His next statement was that he claimed this Ms. Tan started the whole thing. Again… shooting the messenger. Aiyooo…really who started the whole thing? I am really worried to have such absurd Home Minister. Worried is understatement. In fact, I should say I feel unsafe and scared.

I think he and his fellow cohoots should just stop talking. The more they speak, the more they reveal their vulnerability. For example, the Pee Am… is elegant silence is better than his words. Each time he speaks he either embarass the country or make me lose my confidence in him. His flip flop has completely erode whatever confidence, trust and credibility that he has as a leader.

My advice to this minister…I think you best Shadap. It is okay that you keep quiet. The less you speak, the less you destroy whatever little credibility that the govt. has.

And the show begins…..

With the end of the P.P’s by election, you think the dramas that have been going on lately will come to an end?  If you really think so, then you must be really naive.  In fact, we should embrace ourselves for more exciting events to unfold before us.  Stock up our popcorns and drinks. Forget about the Hollywood/Bollywood movies and throw away your suspense thriller novels.   I am not sure what twists and turns will take place….

Perhaps in the following days, weeks and months until DSAI take over the gaumen or gets thrown into jail…some of the things that we may be entertained with would be:

- more “I swear”…over the Holy Books
- more statutory declarations
- more juicy stories exposed
- more aggressive push for the passing of the Anti Hopping Bill and DNA bill and all the other laws
- more ludicrous statements made by our great ruling politicians exposing their shallowness and stupidity (wonder when they will learn that sometimes it is better to just “shut up”)
- more declarations of loyalty
- more frogs too
- more arrests of bloggers or anyone who is deemed to be a threat
- …and the lists go on. Well, we should know by now, in this country, anything can happen. Even the most outright unbelievable news can be sensationalize.

Enjoy!

The current ongoing protest by UiTM students is a perfect example of double standard in the Malaysian life.

Despite thousands over UiTM student demonstrating, no action is taken on them. Hmmm I thought students are not allowed to demonstrate?? Hmmm maybe I got my facts wrong?

Oh no… it is only wrong for students to demonstrate if they are demonstrating against the government. But here…they are demonstrating against the opposition…so it is okay. In fact, the more the merrier. Suddenly the UiTM students’ opinion are deemed worthy. The university authorities are not calling up any of the students leaders and we do not hear about suspension cases either. Brilliant. So maybe…now studnets can get involved in the matters of the country??

It appears that now the gaumen are cheering the students “Go forth and demonstrate” and the students are given immunity. Funtastic.

It really makes me very sad when I read about people still saying things like “Orang Cina, balik China” or “Orang India, balik India” to those Malaysian Chinese and Indians. After 50 years of Independence, the Msian Chinese and Indians are still considered as migrants. It just goes to show how far away we are from building a Malaysian nation. We can be throwing extravagant celebration of Independence from the British year after year but mentality wise the way we treat each other is simply insulting and disgusting.

It does not seem to matter if majority of the Malaysian Chinese and Indians know no other home than Malaysia. Whenever racial issues stir up which is not to the liking of the so called supreme race, the M’sian chinese and Indians are asked to return to China and India. It just shows how welcome we are made to feel in this place we call home.

The uproar by the UiTM students over MB Sgor mere suggestion of giving 10% quota UiTM to non-bumis…gives another example, of how fragile, immature this nation is. Forget about integration and unity…we are far far away from that. Really, do the “earth” people own this land? How do they expect the non-bumis to feel? At home?? Gosh…you must be joking?

Whether it is legitimate for the MB Sgor to make the suggestion or not…is another issue. But the response….simply shows how fragile this country is in terms of ethnic relations. The way the students responded made it feel like the MB has just asked for their life/blood. Of course, I am not denying the fact that there may be hidden fans fanning the students to react the way they did.

Forget about the superficial ethnic relations courses in the varsity or even the National Service carried out in the name of instilling racial unity and integration. It is not going anywhere near it by the way things are happening in this country.

Bottom line…thanks man…. I really feel so loved and so grateful to be given a citizenship in this country.

A sad day today…

Today is a very sad day for the nation.

First of all, the EC announced that the polling day to be held on a working day. I do not know the Malaysian election history enough to know what is the past records of holding a by-election ona working day. However, common sense would tell you that holding a by-election on a working day, is like trying to discourage people from coming out to vote. Not everyone would be able to take leave from work to vote and not all voters who are from the PP constituents actually live in PP. Putting it in the middle of the week, make it all harder for votes from there to return to PP to vote.

It is so sad to see the EC playing dirty after how they have went on the about U-turn in the indelible ink story before the GE12. Even if they are fair and clean, then they must be dumb dumb to choose a Tuesday for polling day. Either way, they have caused more people not to have any faith in them.

The second piece of sad news is that Anwar will be charged. Again I am not a die hard fan of Anwar but how can with all the discrepancies and inconsistencies happening in this allegation can a charge be made? There are still so many unanswered questions. All of the sudden within a week or slightly more since the leaked medical report was released, the police went on high gear and is ready to charge Anwar. The charge is an outright insult to us rakyat. They really think that in times like this we are fools to believe them.

All these incidents are really making things more gloomy in this country. I am not sure if the gaumen and the leaders understand that their bickerings and actions have really tarnish whatever reputation that Malaysia used to have. The more they speak, the more lubangs we find. The more they speak, the more they show how shallow and low their intelligence are. A colleague of mine even says that he is afraid when our Pee Am opens his mouth because whatever he says not only embarass himself but us, as a nation too to have such Pee Am leading the country.

Let’s see tomorrow if Anwar will be denied a bail.
